On the fly mixture adjustment

Has any one made an extension to the mixture screws so as to be able to adjust while riding?
I know it's easy to pull over and get a screw driver out and adjust, but it would be cool to be able to do it by fingers.
My thoughts to mixture setting is to be able to back the throttle fully off at say 5000 rpm (while riding) and be 'just off' the point of popping due to lean mixture.

Any thoughts?

gspd has a setup that allows him to adjust the throttle cable.

On his bike he has the two cables, unlike our one cable to splitter, from the right bar though, with a knurled nut up there that he was able to fiddle with.

Yeah I do recall GSPD's desire to tweak his balance.
I think someone else is fiddling with his knurled nut these days

Duane's mentioned this before. Loosen the LH knurled nut at the carb top. Reach down during the ride and make adjustments. When finished, pull over, pull out your wrench, tighten the jam nut, resume ride to confirm final setting.

I don't think adjusting the mixture screw at 5000 rpm will be noticed at all in the way the engine runs at 5000 rpm. Now if you had an adjustable main jet to tweak at 5000 rpm you could fine tune top end mixture.

I usually don't mess with my fly while I'm adjusting my mixture.

Carb cables are not a problem, what I was wanting to do was adjust idle mixture to prevent popping under deceleration.

Maybe I'm trying to over-engineer a solution.

Given the tucked-in location of the mixture screws, it would be dificult.
Maybe keep a record going and, after riding, make a 1/8 turn adjustment and see what that does.
Might take a few days but afterall, you are "Lord of the Bings".

Before you you start experimenting with different mixture screw settings to stop popping, make sure there are no exhaust leaks near the heads where air can be sucked in during decelleration. With the engine running puff some smoke (fine cigar smokewill do) around the exhaust nuts, crossover and muffler connections. Leaking exhaust will be easliy show up.

Jeff, how many turns out from stumble are your mixture screws?

Mine are just less than one turn out. 170 main jets though. I still get a slight popping, and have been creeping up on turning the screws out by one blade periodically. Thanks for the reminder, as I'll do another today.
