Red line ?

How often do you take your BeeM up to the redline .... or past it ? I saw it a few times yesterday, once in top gear, right on the 7000 rpm .

Occasionally, and usually going up a big hill like Mt. Hotham or somewhere in the Snowies. When I do that, it redlines a lot! I don't go over if I can help it..

When riding up or down Palomar Mountain, it gets to redline and is near it a lot. Around town, I'm sedate but don't stay in high gears. I don't like lugging engines and the little bit lower gear means quicker engine response.

I've been very surprised how freely Tilly revs, I usually keep it moderate but I had to get out of the way of a car yesterday and the 7000rpm came up very quickly ! I was keen to shift .

Then I was having a run at top speed ,I got 145km at 7000, just before the red ..I didn't want to push her beyond that . ;)

I saw just over 8000 the other day. (first time)
Just how much of that was inertia of the needle?

Red line at 7000 lots in the mountains, but usually not much more.

33/11 RS is about 180 at 7000 in 5th.

Got up to 176 kph last week before I chickened out (didn't look at the tach) Image
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

I need 6 th or a longer 5th . I get 145km at around 6900 .She spins up fast 'cos she's so undergeared, nice on the hills though . Not so good on the flat .

What do you spin at 100 km ?

I don't have a functioning tach on my conversion or my /5 but both have the same 72 R75 engines. I will rev them in lower gears till they run out of breath which is probably around 6500ish RPMs and sometimes beyond.

Stock valve train will take 7500ish before it begins to float. With a 336 cam the engine is making good power above 7000 so it is worthwhile lightening the valve train to make it safe up to 8000.

I've only taken notice about 5000 times. I think it's 3800 @ 100k.

Then there is also the inaccuracy of the speedo to consider. Mine is about 10 k optimistic.
