hmmm? I'm intrigued by the $20,000 R69 advertised on ebay.
I just bought the nicest all original R69S' I've seen in a very long time.
My question is what is my excellent condition original paint, chrome, nickel, cad, bike worth? even with a couple little scratches & a ding on the tank?
I've got a 69S with pretty original exhaust. I was told the only parts replaced were tires & tubes, the bike has always been running & I bought it from the 3rd owner who's owned it the longest & he knew the 1st 2 owners.
The bike is from denver & its always been in running/riding condition & stored indoors with routine maintenance performed and 500 mile oil changes. The bike has 30,000 on the odo & is due its first crank service. It starts runs turns & stops as well as any Earles bike I've ever ridden. The claim is its never been into. the motor has never been apart, never crashed, never neglected.
I can't necessarily prove everything stated but I do trust the seller and when i rode the bike he had no plans to sell at the time AND you take one look at it & its obvious that this R69S is a major cream puff.
So? what do I do?
I can't afford to keep it. I have to sell it. Do I have the first service performed & documented? Or do i leave it as a virgin?

If you can't afford to keep it, then eBay it. Just selling it right now, I would WAG the price at 8k to 11k, depending on just how pretty you can make it for pictures.

eBay will get you the highest offer, and the highest chance of scammers, so beware. If you're gonna sell it, do it now. As it cools off, you'll lose at least $1000.

I recently sold a 1964 R60 for $10,000. It was an 8.5. But the economy has turned down quite a bit since then. I'd say your S is worth as much today.

Hey, ZM...was your bike all original? some level of resto? whats the details? & yeah, I've been casually watching Ebay. not really interested. If all goes according to plan I'll have it in time to show it at Barber vintage festival this year & then if I still have it in January the big auction in Las Vegas is in January & I'm told that is where the big money is.
Also, Ive had one sight unseen offer of 10K from a serious buyer who I know will just sell it again for more so I wonder what it'll bring if the right time & place.

Yeah, those kind of shows can get you the biggest price, but there's a lot of competition, so your bike has to be nice enough (or rare enough) to really stand out. Plus, you have to figure in the cost of taking it to the show.
