Cannonball!

Post by melville »

Cannonball rolled through my neighborhood and I made it to the start this morning:

'Twas a hoot watching exposed valvegear doing its wiggly twitchy thing. I've never seen so many Excelsior-Hendersons. Most of the bikes had total loss oiling, truly losing a lot. One vid clip with the one peek I got of a BMW (I arrived a few minutes late for the R52)--most of the bikes sounded like the first one to go by here, and the R62 sounded just like my Airhead:

I have a longer clip of a whole buncha bikes taking off, but I need to find a place to host it.

Hey the BMW guy is on the R65 forum. He must have good taste in bikes. Is this the one you saw? If so he says it's an R52.

Sadly Darryl's bike was damaged in an accident yesterday but he was not injured (much) and reports are that he should have crossed the finish-line in the support truck this morning.

This was on the BMWMOA forum. I'm glad to hear Darryl will be OK, but this is a sad photo.

Apparently those beautiful footboards hit the ground quite solidly.

No, I saw the R62. Darryl and the guy on the R11 (11?) had already left when I showed up.

I don't think sitting on it was helping much!

It looked like the big overhanging branch may have hindered the slide down the slope. It sure could've gone much further if it got past the branch.
