is like Acoustic to Electric guitars.
Both are great, but one is self powered, maybe even the most authentic, but I prefer having a throttle.

Bicycles to motorcycles

Re: Bicycles to motorcycles
20 something years ago Luka Bloom did a traveling guitar gig on a mountain bike. His next album was called "The Acoustic Motorbike."
But you knew that already, no?

Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.

How about a Pignose 7-100 with a portable solar array to recharge the six AA batteries? (get NiMH rechargeables)
Re: Bicycles to motorcycles
Mellville, that album had a great song on it. I used to have it on cassette tape but lost track of it and couldn't remember the name of it. Now that I've got the name again, I'll have to see if I can find it. Thanks!melville wrote:20 something years ago Luka Bloom did a traveling guitar gig on a mountain bike. I kind of like the analogy, ZM.
Thing is, I can't even begin to say how much difference there is for me. Mine goes in the other direction. Usually, about fifteen to twenty minutes into a ride, I get a euphoric feeling that's the best thing in the world for me. Also, the feeling of making my own forward motion is much more fulfilling than relying on gasoline. Going downhill on a dirt road or sometimes on single track trails is the most fun thing I've ever done.
All that, and I'm not even a real good bicycle rider. Not real fast. I'm not such a great bike handler. I'm not prolific. But it's still the best thing to me.
I imagine that white water canoeing would give the same thrill as riding downhill offroad.

Coasting down the hills is the part I like, but riding up the hills is the part I need.bbelk wrote: but it is sure helpful in getting back to the top of those hills
