Installing new power/grnd cables

Post by Zombie Master »

1984 R100S

So I've got my new battery set up, and now I've got new power and ground cables to install. Of course the ground cable is easy with the trans vent bolt in place, but now I've got the tank off, and I've got to figure out where the old power cable goes, and where it hooks up, to the starter? Before I start, I'm wondering if you gentlemen would share your experience on how best to proceed. Everything is stock. I'm wondering what to remove, like coils, covers and such. I guess the first thing is to clean everything up. And yes, I have dialectric grease for all connections. :)

Got new zip ties? First you'll have to remove airbox top/intake and then the starter cover, I find it wiggles out to the right side easiest. Should be self explanatory from there...

I have replaced the earth lead on both of my bikes.
From the -ve terminal to the frame (coil mount) and then to the
bolt adjacent to the lower clutch cable adjustment. This is along bolt
with a nut on the end so can easily be replaced if it strips.
Also removes the delicate gear box breather/ speedo retaining
bolt from the equation.

Are you making up new cables or using new ones from the factory?
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.
