Head Torches - Just which one??

Post by grant81rs »

Gidday fellas,

Now with another Oz boxerworks camp coming up in a few weeks it's time to go thru the list a camping crap that I need  and one that is a must is the all important "head torch" for cooking and making your way around the fire and tent after a good few grogs, you need the hands free for when ya fall over, not for holding the torch....

I brought a windup, battery free one year last and it is bloody useless so I want a good but not pricey LED one, well two actually as I will get one for my young son as well, not that he drinks to much either but just for running around the camp site with the other kids...
Any ideas on which ones?? I have looked on ebay and there are shitloads of them but I just do not know???

Can you recommend one :?:
Cheers, Grant

I have a Princeton Tec brand head light. Water proof and good bright light with three settings. Cost $60
I have another that cost about $25 The dearer light is......well, $35 bucks better.
Drink more, get blind, no light needed.

I have similar, but mine was $US35ish. I use it for predawn trail runs with the dog. Three AAA batteries and goes 30 hrs at the low setting, which is more than adequate.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.

Is there an Anaconda store in LV Grant? Woolies might even have them. I got one from Bunnings for a 5er.

edit: Narre Warren is closest. AD will have them. The ebay ones will be ok.

The 2 little torches I have have either 5 leds or 9 leds. They both give surprisingly good light. If you found a head torch with more then it'll be brighter of course, but I wonder if the weight will increase.

Then there are the sort that clip to the peak of a cap, with a linear array of leds. They look clever too.
