What is this tool used for?

Trivia time: What is this tool used for vis-a-vis an R75/6? OAL is 21" and the notch is at 20".

Hmm, the notch looks to be carefully made. I've been fondling working on a /6 for some years and can't think of a use for that special tool. I will follow with interest. It might be useful when I need to beat myself up for making an expensive mistake.

ps: Is there a prize?

I've never had to use it, either. I think it's some sort of propping device. I've been all over this bike for years and have no idea what it does. I got it with the bike back in '02. Got me.

It is an unfinished strap spreader. I have one just like it with a notch on both ends. When I need to do wheel work I raise the bike up on the lift, run a strap through the back wheel and up to an overhead rafter. I then drop the lift until the bike is suspended. I use the spreader to keep the straps from chafing the sides of the fender and seat.

Anyhow, here's the nearest thing I can find for the tool. It appears to prop the bike up level (both wheels off the ground) when used with the luggage rack.
Why would that be necessary? If I remove the rear wheel, the bike will tip all the way onto the front wheel, rising off the tool so, I don't think it's needed for wheel removal. I also tried to see if it was to wedge the stand (rather than having to tie it forward for safety). No go, there. Fascinating. The O.O. took a little time to make the tool as though it would be very useful/handy.
Hmmmmmmmmmm. Could it be to prop the bike with BOTH wheels off? The front would have to be removed first, I suppose as the bike tips onto the front wheel if the rear is removed.

You know? That looks much nicer than my 2x4 that I stuck under the rear fender when I would drop the swingarm to pull the gearbox!
