Re: Today in the shed you did...
Drove over to Los Altos to help an old friend with his 1956 R69, the one that I restored back in 1973 and he got from me a few years later.
Today we removed the old Denfeld solo seat and put a new one on. Also installed the 200 watt 12 volt alternator system from Vech. The directions are far better than most and it goes on easily. We didn't have a battery, so couldn't test it out.
Fun day working with a dear friend on a mutual hobby and exchanging stories of life.

I learned that lesson after many tries to fit LED turn signals to my Triumph. The bulb in the vac machine had black and red wires going to it.Major Softie wrote: If the light is an LED, you have to make sure you have to polarity right or it won't light. Make sure you try it both directions.
After I put the machine back together so my wife could give it to Goodwill, it now works. Not the light, but it does everything else it's supposed to. I guess I'll take credit for fixing it but I still don't know what was wrong.

Well, I guess that beats knowing what was wrong but still failing to fix it.enigmaT120 wrote:After I put the machine back together so my wife could give it to Goodwill, it now works. That was one aspect of a great day. The other was my new Ford Fusion Hybrid. It is rated at 40 mpg highway and 44 mpg city. I don't know how to get it to do so badly on mileage.SteveD wrote:Can't get much better than that Duane.
My "trip" was 220 miles and it used exactly 4 gallons of fuel. That is 55 mpg and it was 20% city and 80% highway. I don't trust the computer to tell the truth, so I am carefully documenting the computer "claim" and the actual fill up quantity. The computer said it was 55.9 mpg. That is an error of under 1% and I won't argue with that, as it is within a reasonable margin of error.
How is it possible for Ford to be so far off in it's claims? I would expect it to be "off" but in the other direction. Earlier I was also getting good results. Then I found that the fuel tank was hard to fill and a capacity of 13.6 gallons, not the 13 claimed. It is quite hard to fill and it has taken me quite a bit of time to learn how. However, not a single trip was even close to being near the "low" claimed mileage by Ford.
Should I ask for my money back?

No, you should ask them to remove the cheat software. They must be cheating to deliver such great MPG.

Hint for a happy life from "Deep Throat", somewhere in Wolfsburg: Don't measure your Fusion's NOx outputs . . .

How in the world can one do that? I would never do that. I never did that. Nope, not me, not even once. I have a system so that wouldn't happen. Only if I forgot my system could I do that. It would never happen, never did and won't.
