Has anyone replaced a speedo with an aftermarket and needed to plug the threaded cable receiving port?
My local BMW dealer has told me there is no solution they can offer me.
If anyone has any idea how to go about this I'd appreciate a link or suggestions, it isn't as easy as just finding a proper size bolt to fit the hole due to the way the side bolt interfaces with the main speedo port shaft.

Justin over on R65.org sold me mine. It just looks like a flat button from the top.

Cheap arse Airhead owner I know quite well uses tapered rubber plugs sourced from Ace Hdwr & Airhead Sply. They work on both of my... oops... that guys bikes.

I know of an even cheaper-arsed airhead owner who uses a bit of fuel hose wedged in with an ebony violin tuning peg ...
... and apparently there are other places onmy this guy's bike where violin pegs have been utilised ...

Just happen to be doing that to mine right now. I removed the drive worm and am machining a nice aluminum flat top plug to fit. I will probably use a fiber washer or o-ring for a seal and I'm modifying a stainless bolt with a vent hole - someone tapped mine for 1/4-20.

That guy must have really hated his kids' violin practice.

Cool! I presume the violin tuning peg is made of ebony. A bit of warning to others though, use of an ivory tuning peg will betray you as a (deleted).Airbear wrote:I know of an even cheaper-arsed airhead owner who uses a bit of fuel hose wedged in with an ebony violin tuning peg ...
