Post by antocas »

nearly ready to get my refurbished r100rs on the road again,,but the brake light doesn't come on when the rear brake is used ,,the front brake lights up fine,,
I cant figure out how the Norris switch is removed,,does it have two screws holding it?
could this be the problem
look forward to some advice and inspiration

Spray the switch with electrical cleaner...jiggle it...spray it again. They get gunked up and usually just need a clean.

Two screws under the rubber cap on top of the switch.
Check the brake pedal is contacting the front of the switch.
Check you have power to the switch. Check you have power to the brake light bulb socket, when activating the brake pedal.

Had this issue on my 1978 R100S. The rear brake light would work only occasionally. Checked proper operation and brake pedal contact, power to the tail lamp, bulb function. Hosed it with electronic parts cleaner spray, burned incense, chanted...

Bought new switch. It's all good. :D

Pix or it didn't happen! ;) Oz Boxerworkers are organising a ride first weekend in May, to a pub towards Griffith. We usually do mountain rides, but this one is close to a couple of blokes that live out that way, for a change. If you're interested, I can supply details.
I'm in Croydon.
