Rob Frankham wrote: Sat May 25, 2024 6:24 am What issues do you have with the old fork brace? In general use, these do a pretty good job provided that they aren't worn. IMO aftermarket yokes (triple trees) and braces are just expensive eye candy unless you are doing serious racing or track work.

None really Rob that's why I asked the question is it worth the upgrade if you can call it that, you read things and people say oh it's a massive change and so on but as you say it depends on normal use or hard riding.
Well the Kiwi $ is in the gutter at the moment with this new Government so it looks for the moment I will park that idea, still can't complain forecast for 18 deg on Friday and it's winter good day for a ride to wherever.
My humblest apologies... don't know why but I had as being in OZ... Should have looked harder at the uisername I suppose... or nindee the sugnature. Not that it makes a great deal of difference as far as this thread goes.

18 degrees in the winter... blimey it's early summer here and we're only get 13 degrees today... and I see that as comfortable warm.

Rob
Well as it turned out it was warm yesterday but as it turned out we has gale force winds so I canned the idea of a ride, still I can't complain its forecast for 18deg C today and rain this afternoon bummer, however Monday is a public holiday (King's Birthday) and weather looking like 17dg and light winds so fingers crossed.

I know how cold it can get in the UK as I come from Merseyside, I have lived here now for 40 years and before that 2 years in Australia and it gets far too hot in Aussie for me, you do get used to the heat and as a result 18deg can seem a little chilly, am very lucky Rob it's great Motorcycle riding place here in Nelson at the top of the south island.

I still have a Daughter and her family in Liverpool and hopefully she will be here permanently by the end of this year.

Getting way away from the thread for which I apologise...

A few years ago, I managed to get a month in NZ and toured extensivley (Aukland down as far as Invercargill). Sadly it was by car rather than on a bike. The closest we got to Nelson was Havelock but we did 'do' the Queen Charlotte Drive on a day out from Blenheim... Wow!

Contributing to the drift... I spent a week on the South Island and vow to come back on a motorcycle. I started out in Queenstown and made it to Milford Sound and Invercargill. I think there is/was a museum about Burt Munro but I didn't know it at the time. I was also there on a work project and took the ferry to Nelson and visited the RNZAF at Blenheim.

Hi Rob and Kurt, glad you enjoyed being here in NZ, a while back when we had covid lockdown and no tourists but we were allowed to travel about a dozen went for a Motorcycle tour over 7 days on our bikes, all was in the south island and for me it was pure heaven very little traffic.
We left Nelson and went down the west coast and visited and stayed in many places I have not seen before and loved it.

Yes Queen Charlotte drive is epic and never get over the view.

Zombie Master did a hire/ride of NZ a few years back...I think he rode a F800r.

I was looking at sorting a couple of weeks doing the same with 7-8 mates but the tour I saw was costed at E9.5K/$OZ15K+. This was late '23 costs and disappointing. I'm watching Joe Ryan on Utoob tootle around the south island atm. It'd be sensational.

Himalayas otoh is $OZ5.7K for 15days.
Flights were not included in either.
