1982 R100RT Replacing Headlight with LED

Post by gsm_r100rt »

While searching internet for H4 LED bulbs most of the information was that the OEM housing was not designed to correctly focus the light emitted by the LED's.

Then I found this product.

It has a glass lens and DOT approved.

Not affiliated at all with summit racing

Think this would fit in the R100RT headlight bucket?

Not really, Most airheads, Road models anyway, take a ten inch reflector. This on is only seven inches. I suppose it would be possible to arrange some sort of surround to take up the extra space but it certainly isn't plug and play.

Hmm, I'll have to go and measure one... but I'm sure it's not 7" so the rest of the comment applies...

Same size as the R65 headlamp which can be used to upgrade a/5 to a H4 halogen bulb.

Absolutely right 8 inch by the tape measure. Apologies, my memory ain't what it used to be... but a 7inch reflector still won't fit...

If you're looking to upgrade your headlight to LED, here's an option. It's a smaller headlamp with an adaptor ring. I have not installed one, so I can't comment on the product other than it exists. http://www.motoelekt.com/lighting.htm
