Clutch Pushrod OMG

Post by boxerbamr100 »

Your taking the transmission off of a 1978 R100S to inspect a failing clutch and find that the clutch pushrod and pressure plate have have chewed each other up, when you remove the pushrod, you find that it's been broke off at the bottom of the felt space and was welded back together - off center as well. ahhhhh and everything! :o who would do such a thing?? the thrust bearing(#4) was missing too. How did this clutch function for as long as it did rigged up like this :?:

Boy, I have heard of cheap airhead owners, but not buying a new pushrod? That takes the cake!

It wasn't me.

I would have welded mine straight.

after serveral years of BMW ownership this no surprize of what people will do

I found many things

and some maybe can point the finger at me, after all I have sold parts with out the full knowlage of condition as I count on failing eyes and measurement tools, glass plate

who knows the reason for a barn find could be the owner health or some ham fisted repair that one doesn't want to risk life with

I rebuilt a motor that had a repaired cam the ATU nut was broken off and a 6-32 screw washer and lock washer to hold ATU

the ATU is held in position with D grind then wave washer, nut in this the 6-32 the D was worn I pointed out this cam needed replacement the owner said he couldn't afford it

I said later it will cause you greef

Later it did and we are no longer in contact
