The first thing I wooda done with that yeller thing, is put a smaller sprocket on the back.

That might be a 6" pulley going by the lines as best can be seen, of the belt.Major Softie wrote:

While it does have what appears to be a 6" pulley at the business end, it's offset, so there is a bit of gear reduction going on:
