Brand new retro bike.

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

I like that as long as it harmonic balancer! My old XT 500 was a great bike but the vibrations were .... difficult . :(

Googling, I found one reference to the SR500's harmonic balancer.

Or better yet the 600 like my daily rider. I also had the SR 500 for some time.

I despise the retro concept. It negates the present. I know these are the good old days!

I don't agree, where talking appearance here. No one disapproves of a good engine, good performance and good handling but I'm happy to express my opinion out how the package looks and how much it should weigh!

It has been around for a long time in Japan as a 400 because of their tiered licensing.
I guess they will make some extra ones and toss them on a boat.
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Exactly. 400 for Japan. Kept the export a 400 for cost savings.

I haven't found any mention anywhere about about it being counterbalanced though.

From what I have read, the only major difference between the 400 and 500 is the crank and conrod.

Thanks Doug, I didn't know about the 400cc licencing thing in Japan.
